For over a century, Mason and Hamlin has been known for the superior quality and sound of its hand-crafted pianos.
Renowned originally as reed organ manufacturers based in Boston, Henry Mason and Emmons Hamlin began building pianos in 1883.
Today, Mason and Hamlin manufacturers continue the hand-crafted tradition and standard of excellence in producing pianos that
pianists love for their large palette of rich sonorities, responsiveness, and depth of sound. Mason & Hamlin limits its production of
new grands so that each instrument receives the individual attention to detail that it needs to be consistently accurate and superior.
Mason and Hamlin produces two grand models-the seven foot Model BB and the 5' 8 ½" Model A-sparing no
cost in using the finest materials to produce these durable instruments of ideal sound and sensitivity. The hard rock maple rims-fifty percent
thicker than the industry standard-and the eastern white spruce soundboard-stronger than the sitka spruce used in most soundboards-provide
the piano's solid foundation, while the German-made Renner action parts and Renner Premium Blue hammers-the best quality hammers in the
world-create its distinctive Mason and Hamlin sound. Furthermore, the Tension Resonator and Crown Retention System, unique to
Mason and Hamlin pianos, work to preserve the bowing of the soundboards and, consequently, the resonance of the instrument.
The aliquot scale design allows for the tuning of the non-singing parts of the treble strings, creating a more pleasing and
harmonically accurate sound. Beethoven Pianos takes the same care in preserving the integrity and brilliance of these refined, durable
instruments and offers one of the largest selections of restored Mason and Hamlin grand pianos as well as Mason and Hamlin uprights
in the country.
